Sweet surprise

This morning, as I was ready to leave the house for school,  I spotted these beauties under a shady tree.  Such a sweet distraction, I just took a quick glance as I had to drive my  kids to school. So first things first and off we went.
Settled with the kids, I quickly got my camera, went back outside and took a few quick snaps. It was heating up outside and I was all sweaty and thirsty.
It's been a week since my last morning walk in the garden. A bit too hot to stay outside and today it was rather a wonderful surprise for me to find  these roses in full bloom.
Keeping them in a shady place was actually a good idea. They apparently  love sun but cannot tolerate high heat.
It  isn't a good time for them right now, but surprisingly they are still holding up pretty well in this heat.

Not looking their best. The heat  affected the flowers and caused the changes in colors.

Notice the edges of  the petals, crinkled and slightly burned due to the heat.

Not as bright but still exquisitely beautiful.

New life.... not so promising bloom. It's hard to predict...

....because it might end up like this. Poor thing..

  3. Yes once it gets hot here the garden really takes a beating. Except for the zinnias and heat loving plants. That is of course everything gets adequate water.

  4. I've never even attempted to have roses here. I don't even know why I keep buying geraniums every winter. They have a short lifespan once the heat and dust settle in. Another dust storm arrived today -- that red powdery stuff that goes into everything. Yuck! Best wishes, Tammy

  5. Hi Suffia!

You are so right, roses love sun but excessive heat, especially for long spells sure slow down the blooms or worse. Any rose bloom is beautiful.

Thanks for sharing at my Bunny Hop Party!
