Cherry blossoms

I was so determined to finish this little craft project before we are off on a week vacation. I took advantage of having a  day off from my gardening chores and just focusing on getting it done.  It all started with this  link (sightseeing event, new Tokyo style hanami) that my sweet cousin posted on her facebook page. Breathtaking scenery. We talked about how amazing it would be if we could go "hanami" together. 
The word Hanami means flower viewing. It's the Japanese traditional custom of enjoying the beauty of flowers, especially cherry blossoms
I was inspired by the beauty and  felt a sudden need to create the atmosphere in my home.
Here is my version of cherry blossoms. A very simple craft, using basically white and pink crepe papers and some bare branches from my garden. It's not perfect but it's pretty enough to my eyes.


 
I was trying to figure out the best place to display it. Maybe here on my little table.




Or perhaps on my console table.





It just feels much better on my coffee table.

Bottles of comos

Just some empty bottles filled with cosmos that I placed in a basket. Voila! A centerpiece for my coffee table. Till next time...

A little craft corner

A place for everything and everything in its place.

Getting organized seems to be at the top of the list for everyone most of us. As much as I love being organized and stay neat, I'm trying to tackle a little at a time, started of with creating my little craft corner. I never really had a dedicated space where I could sit and create and where everything is within reach. Though crafting is occasionally but it would be wonderful having my own place. Perhaps a craft room of my own. That's probably too much to ask at this time as all rooms in the house are occupied. Since my bedroom is relatively spacy, I decided to use a small portion of it for my craft corner. It's almost done but it requires a little touch up.
Today I'm taking you on a little tour of my little craft corner.





A mobile trolley for my storage boxes.


A towel holder for ribbons hanging on the side for the trolley.


Loving these pretty storage boxes.


Soft toy glued on the jar lid as a pin cushion.


Remember my jars? Click  Here. They make cute storage for buttons, beads, pins etc.





Wicked  basket that holds wrapping papers and wall papers. I'm thinking of spray painting the basket white.


and this basket too. I think it looks much better  in white.

Just jars

Inspired by all the amazing ideas in blogland,  I've recently started collecting jars. Different shapes and sizes of jars,  from jam jars, spaghetti sauce jars, cheese jars to honey jars. Since the lids are of different colors and were not to my liking. So I decided to spray paint them . I made a few lantern jars and some I keep for later use. Perhaps as storage container or as vases for my fresh cut flowers.



I used cooking oil to remove the sticky labels off  the jars.








I sprayed the lids with blue color.


And some metallic silver. I love this color more.

This would be my final "little project" for this year. Just one more day till 2012 and I'm taking this opportunity to wish all my readers,  A Happy New Year filled with joy, peace and happiness.

Napkin rings

It has been a while since my last project. So here it goes.. I've been keeping some beaded necklaces that used to belong to my daughters. The beads are too beautiful to toss, so I kept them, hoping that one day I would get struck with an idea to repurpose them. Well an idea struck me alright! Simple and easy to make napkin rings for not so crafty mom like me. As usual I never plan things, I just get into it and start messing around.
I'm sharing a few loads of photos here. I just couldn't help myself having fun photographing them.
