Morning glory

My little one woke up this morning with a big smile on her face. Finally it blooms. She checked on them every time before she went to school and  I told her that she just have to be a little patient and would see them in full  bloom soon.  The plant, morning glory as it's called, was actually a gift from me to her for being  my wonderful gardening mate . My gardening has always been such a joy.  For that I planted this lovely plant  on the side of her bedroom window. She's happy to have this view.

Tidy up!

Summer school holiday has almost come to an end. Before that, I thought it's best for the kids to get a little organized,  tidying up and getting rid of  stuff they no longer use.
So....declutter  it is.
This time, I let my daughter take charge of cleaning her own room, She was in her room all by herself deciding what to keep and what to get rid off. Whenever she wasn't sure about something, she would come for my opinion. But overall she did a good job.
For that, I invited  her to be my guest writer for this entry. I know...not something that amused her :) but she agreed anyway.
This is what she wrote....

"I always make sure that my room is clean and tidy all the time. Mom won't like it, if it's messy.  I've grown  tired of the old books, papers, old figurines on my desk.  Stuff that I've collected since I was a small kid.  It's high time to get rid of these things. So I made them invisible (most of them went into 2 big garbage bags) and some I hid somewhere where no one could see OR before mom could catch a glimpse of it :D, Later, mom found out ( she's so good at this). Busted!!!! but she didn't say anything. I guess it was fine.  Although, it took me several hours to tidy up my desk I felt proud of the end result. Since I'm sharing the room with my sister, I thought I might as well clean her side too.  Normally I wouldn't bother, but I guess I was feeling a little nice that day. Hahaha.  Mom said we could have a garage sale this winter. Toys, books and lots of things, wow! Thinking of the garage sale, I'm so looking forward to it.  Hmmm....Back to you mom, I'm running out of ideas".
Garage sale sounds fun...now it's my turn to declutter  my closet. Let's see how her desk looks like.

She not only cleaned the drawers, she cleaned the top of the drawer too.

6th Birthday

Last week the world was crazy  busy talking about the Royal Wedding, whereas here.....in my little kingdom, we were having a party of our own, celebrating my princess's big day, she turned 6 on May 1st... happier and chattier than ever. She wanted a simple party with just mom, dad, brother and sister. Since she didn't want it big, I thought it would be wonderful to come out with something simple yet memorable and of course pink. Setting out the table was fun with the help of the birthday girl herself. Lots of pink...



Now..here goes the exciting moment that she's been waiting for...

One free-afternoon

It's harvesting time. Sweet corns and white pumpkins are ready for harvest. I needed extra helping hands in the garden. Since the kids didn't have much things to do during the 2 days half term break, I thought it would be nice to get them involved in the garden.
Kids usually aren't really excited with the gardening chores, but when I asked if they could help me, to my surprise, they jumped with joy, grabbed their hats and ran out into the garden. Not a bad idea after all.



The 2 girls were busy at work. E, bubbly as always...busy telling her sister not to help her as she wanted to do things by herself. I could tell that they were having fun.

The next time, there is a free-afternoon, I would surely enjoy their company again, this time we'll be collecting flowers and some vegetables too.

Now it's time to enjoy the fruits of our own labor. Yummy sweet corns.... Spread it with butter and salt. Tasted so good!!!.

She must be tired and hungry after all the hard work.

Just another note to share about my garden art project. I have a batch of pressed flowers that is ready to use and still pressing some more. Hopefully I could start working on it any time soon.

Whilst I was busy pressing flowers, K reading her new book that I just got her.

What was E up to.....?

Sport Day.

Another exciting week for Princess E. Yesterday was a sport day for KS1. Everybody wore their new house team t-shirts. Red, blue, yellow, purple, green and orange, a very colourful day indeed. E is in Unicorn team which is yellow. Go Unicorn!!!

The school has been introducing the carousel system since last year. This is how the system works... children are given opportunity to gather points for their house, competing in a carousel of activities. House teams race alongside each other across 10 different relay based work stations.

Parent were given more freedom to move around the events with their children to cheer them on. I was with my camera all the time, taking photos of every single race she participated. I had a great time cheering and waiting for her at the finishing line telling her how great she was. Every child has an equal chance of success, compete as part of a team and races in every event. Therefore there is no fear of being judged by their peers or the dissapointment of not winning a race. It is absolutely a great system, couldn't agree more. More fun, friendly and child centred approach.

Waiting for the result, and the winner goes to....... the blue team. Congratulation!!

Although Princess E's team came 4th, it doesn't matter if they win or lose, all that matters was she had a great time. They are having half term break for 2 days starting from today. A long weekend for us and a good break for the kids.

Princess Stephanie Tisdale

Last Thursday, Princess E had an Inspire Workshop at her school. Parents were invited to participate. She was so excited and kept reminding me about it. When the day finally arrived....she woke up so early and went to school with tremendous enthusiasm and joy.

The theme was Making Sock Puppets. It was a great opportunity for both parents and the kids to work together and be creative. We were given about an hour to make a puppet and a background board. The kids got to choose their own theme. Princess E chose fairy tale theme for her puppet. It was absolutely a wonderful experience for both moms and children. We had so much fun. I got so caught up with it, I didn't realise how fast the time went by.

Everyone managed to finish their puppets on time. Here they are, eager to show off their excellent works.

And here is Princess E with her puppet. Look at the puppet's hair, so curly....her favorite hairstyle.

She called her puppet Princess Stephanie Tisdale. Notice the crown on its head. So everyone... there's a new princess in da house.

They grow up so fast.

It's been a while. The Eid celebration went well, though we missed home so much. It has also been a very busy week for us preparing the kids for back-to-school. New school term started yesterday. It was a big day for my 2 princesses. Both are having a big transition. K is moving to secondary and Princess E is joining key stage 1. It's kind of easy for K because she's just switching building, still within the same school but with new students joining from other schools. However for her little sister it is entirely new location and new environment. It was kind of a surprised to me when she showed no sign of nervousness. We have prepared her mentally in advanced to make this transition as easy as possible. I guess it worked.

This morning she woke up a bit grumpy then she got excited when she saw her sister was all dressed up and getting ready for school. There she is, dressed up in her uniform and ready to go.

I remember her first day in Reception, she had a difficult time adjusting herself, in fact both of us were. It took her almost 3 months to settle in.

I am glad that everything went smoothly for both of them, for all of us.
Other than that, as summer almost comes to an end, the weather has started to cool down a bit. I think I'm having enough of summer and really looking forward for winter. Till then Eid Mubarak and have a wonderful weekend.
